Prayer to GOD alone

From Journey the Word

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." 2 Timothy 2:5

Commentary: There are proponents on Earth that claim that we as Christians may pray to saints, Mary, or other governing bodies, and they will help our prayers up to God; however, this Scripture in Timothy refutes that heresy by stating that there is only One Mediator and His Name is Jesus Christ! This is the ultimate clarity we have!

Paul teaches more about it than just his letter to Timothy, as his letter to the Romans he states that the Holy Spirit is the one that translates our prayers and groanings to the Father God (Romans 8:26-27). Therefore, Jesus is the guarantor (the Promised One) of the New Covenant, which allows Him to be the Chief Intercessor (Hebrews 7:22-25). Literally, the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10) - meaning He is the prophesied one who carries prophecies (which means that He creates those prophecies in prophets, and then He fulfills them). (See also Acts 4:12; John 14:6)

Without Salvation, those who pray to or worship a carved image are sinning according to Exodus 20:4-5. Praying to others is equivalent to praying to a familiar spirit (see Leviticus 19:31; Deuteronomy 18:10-12; Isaiah 8:9; Leviticus 20:6 and 27).
